Her life was brutally taken away from her due to Gender Based Violence
The country is mourning the brutal murder and untimely passing of a young and talented woman yet again, at the hands of gender-based violence, the news was first broken by Phil Mphela. According to a statement by the Mdeliswa family, the 34-year-old Thandeka Mdeliswa, who was popularly known for her role on local television drama iKani, was shot on Thursday the 3rd of September. She was immediately rushed to Evander Hospital in Mpumalanga, where she was stabilized and then airlifted to Witbank, after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital, in a stable but critical condition.
After a long and painful fight, she passed on in the morning of Saturday, the 5th of September. Condolences and shock about her brutal murder have been pouring in since early this morning.
She was a phenomenal actress on and shared the screen with some of Mzansi’s best actors, like Jet Novuka, who played her on-screen husband on Ngempela on SABC 1. She also shared the screen with fellow actresses, Khanya Mkhangisa and veteran Flo Maseba. Mam’ Maseba was among the first to break the news 8 hours ago on her Twitter account because the two were close friends.
The shocking news has caused further outrage in the country that another senseless killing has taken place at the hands of men, some women feel defeated while some are calling for something to be done. Boity Thulo seemed to be lost for words.

The family has asked for some time to mourn their child’s untimely death and promises to update everyone as the murder case develops.

According to the family of slain actress Thandeka Mdeliswa, the 34-year-old actress succumbed to gun wounds after being shot close range in Evander, Mpumalanga.
Thandeka Mdeliswa is known to be the young actress who played 25-year-old Khanya on drama Ikani.. She previously landed minor roles on local soaps Generations: The Legacy, Isidingo and Rhythm City, and a bigger one on the SABC1 short story series Ngempela.

The shooting and Passing away of Thandeka Mdeliswa (34).
It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing on of our dearest daughter.
She was shot in Evander, Mpumalanga on Thursday 3 September 2020. She was immediately rushed to Evander hospital, stabilized then airlifted to Witbank after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital (Pretoria) as her condition was critical but stable. She passed on in the morning of the 5th September 2020 (Saturday).
The circumstances surrounding her shooting are still under investigation by Evander SAPS in Mpumalanga.
She was a young, talented, and inspirational actress which her family and community were looking to see flourish. We had a lot of expectations for her.
The brutality which was inflicted on our daughter has left us deeply hurt. This is another incident of violence against women (Gender-Based Violence) which our country has to fight against We believe that justice will be served.
This is the only information we can currently convey as a family.

The family requests that it be given a chance to grieve and request that our privacy be respected at this time. However, funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

Thandeka Mdeliswa studied acting at Brumilda‘s Acting Academy and managed her first television role in 2013, starring in an episode of the etv drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories entitled “Imbiza” The episode first aired on 23 September in 2013.
